Luminary Profile: Hannah Marcotti

Hannah MarcottiHannah Marcotti is a beautiful writer, coach & mother of three. We’ve been inspired by her passion & dedication to helping women create more gorgeous lives.

If you could share a piece of wisdom or comfort with a younger version of yourself, what would it be?

My younger self looks at her body and feels it is always lacking because the stomach isn’t flat, her teeth have gaps and her face is too round. She believes that she will never be happy until that belly is flat.

As a wise woman, who grew from this young one, I look at a belly much larger than one she ever knew and I send it love each day. I massage it, I dress it beautifully and I honor it. What would I say to her, that young one? Beautiful words but she would not hear it. I would stand in front of her with all my earned grace and confidence and I would radiate love to her. I send her that love all the time. Each time I feel myself slip back into shame about my body I know she is with me and I must send love. That love goes to the past, the present and the future. It is waiting for me in each place, all realities. Always.

What is the simplest change you’ve made in your life that has had the biggest positive impact?

I reach for the thought that feels better. This was not in my constitution, so each day I practice it. When I am tired, instead of complaining about lack of sleep I think about honoring myself during the day with joyful movement and then quiet time when I can. I feed myself well rather than munching chips to stay awake. I am on a journey to integrate patience into my life, those thoughts are allowing me to get closer and closer.

And it doesn’t always work. I can be the crabbiest mama ever sometimes. My kids soak up that energy, so does the dog. Each time I find myself where I don’t want to be, instead of resisting it, I breathe into it. I remind myself that in each moment I get to choose. I am the writer of my story. It can take some time and some tea and some raw chocolate, but usually I can get myself back to that place of feeling better. Practice. Practice some more.

What foods & practices are essential to your wellbeing?

Lemon water in the morning, actually I have this about 3 times a day, hot or warm or cool. Sometimes with ginger and honey.

Hot tea is my liquid meditation. If I find it cold, like I do many times, I know I am not being present. I make a new cup and start over.

I crave raw, massaged greens as well as warm soups and foods. I have a duality in my body that feels wonderful with that combination of things.

My newest ritual is at night, washing my face and then lovingly applying lotions and mists and I take time to really look at my face. I look in my eyes, at the lines on my forehead and I have about 3 minutes of quiet in an otherwise loud and colorful life!

For movement I have a Kundalini Yoga dvd that is joyful and spiritual and allows me to wake my body, energize and feel as though I am pulling in all that is good and loving to me and then sending it right back out.

I light a blessing candle each night and I send out silent blessings. This one will change your life too!

What experiences nourish your soul when you’re feeling depleted?

Alone time is my way to revive. I am with my three kids in a really tiny house and that can overstimulate me. I create many inside rituals to stay calm and present when home. Once the weekend comes I go out of the house, all alone, to a coffee shop and I work on the computer. I try to dress up and wear my make up and best earrings. I want to create the sense of feeling beautiful, special and honored to be doing the work I get to do, wherever I want to do it. I sip hot tea. I tune into the voice inside of me that writes and creates and I come home feeling completely renewed and full of passion. Sometimes I go shopping too!

What are you passionate about sharing with the world?

My passion, oh goodness, this is where I light up. Guiding women to the gorgeous life is my passion. The gorgeous life? It is…

  • connecting to intuition
  • moving into clarity of purpose
  • being present
  • movement and dance with joy
  • celebrating life through ritual
  • adoring who you are
  • making space in your heart,
    home and mind
  • making space in your body
  • making space to dream
  • surrounding yourself in beauty
  • allowing where you are to guide you gently to where you want to be
  • creating your visions
  • moving past excuses into making it happen
  • knowing you are enough. always.

…and so much more.

A friend once said, “Hannah, I’m not even sure people know what exactly you do, but once they are in your life, they don’t want to leave.” A great compliment (and helped me to start being more clear!) and tells me that my work helps others get to that place inside of themselves that they have been longing for, and that place feels so good. If my superpower is helping women feel joy in their lives and in their businesses, I’ll take that cape!
